General Management

The General Management performs management, coordination and communication tasks for the SRG SSR idée suisse group. It is headed by Director General Armin Walpen and Deputy Director General Daniel Eckmann, who have the following functional and staff areas reporting to them:

Also reporting to the Director General is the national Organisational Unit Business Unit Sport (Head: Urs Leutert), while Media Services (Head: Joachim Rüede) reports to the Deputy Director General. The General Management has a staff corresponding to 68 full-time employees.

Media Services (MSC)

Media Services (MSC) is an independent organisational unit within SRG SSR idée suisse. As a shared services organisation, MSC works on behalf of SRG SSR idée suisse and its subsidiaries. Its principal role is to support the Enterprise's core business. MSC reports to the Deputy Director General and is headed by Joachim Rüede.

MSC performs the processes assigned to it with a high degree of expertise, efficiency and effectiveness.
Service provision observes the following principles:

  • Services are provided to the agreed standard,
  • to the great satisfaction of our partners, and
  • and are highly cost-efficient. 

MSC is structured according to its core competencies into three staff areas and nine Service Centres in the following areas:

  • Programme production, programme services and programme reception
  • Management services
  • Business administration.

MSC has a staff of 440, fulfilling the equivalent of 300 full-time posts in Bern (Eigerhaus, Giacomettistrasse, Federal Parliament Media Centre) and Zurich.


Business Unit Sport (BUS)

Business Unit Sport (BUS) negotiates, buys and sells sports rights on the national and international markets for all SRG SSR Enterprise units. The Organisational unit is responsible for SRG SSR's own productions throughout Switzerland and for the TV relay of major sporting events both domestically and internationally. In addition, BUS coordinates sports programming between Schweizer Fernsehen (SF), Télévision Suisse Romande (TSR) and Radiotelevisione svizzera di lingua italiana (RSI) and performs SRG SSR's controlling tasks as they relate to sport. BUS has a staff corresponding to 11 full-time employees. The Organisational unit is led by Urs Leutert.


Production (PROD)

Production (PROD) carries out numerous tasks that enable television programming to be produced competitively and more cost-effectively. These tasks include, for example, the joint procurement of production resources and materials, scheduling and deployment of production capacities and ensuring the high standards and ever-increasing quality of output through systematic, institutionalised collaboration. PROD also optimises cooperation between production teams and the channels and promotes the nationwide training of staff with a view to inter-regional deployment and the exchange of specialists. PROD reports to the Conférence interrégionale des directeurs TV (CID-TV) and is led by Roberto Pomari.
